Curriculum Overview

Curriculum planning, scheming and updating is a continuous process. Medical education worldwide has undergone profound changes to meet evolving public health challenges. To reorient medical education in the South-East Asian Region, adoption of global standards has been emphasized.

In Bangladesh, a community-oriented and competency-based undergraduate medical curriculum was introduced in 2002 to produce need-based doctors for society. The revised MBBS curriculum has been implemented from the 2021–2022 session.

This updated curriculum reflects integrated, need-based, core and optional, problem-based, community-oriented, and competency-based learning while remaining primarily discipline-based.
