After passing the final professional MBBS examination, students must enroll in a one-year logbook-based mandatory rotatory internship programme. The internship is structured and supervised, and its successful completion is compulsory for obtaining permanent registration and independent medical practice.
MBBS graduates must join the internship within one month of passing the final professional examination. The internship must be completed within two years from the date of joining.
Completion of the one-year supervised internship is mandatory to complete the MBBS course and to obtain permanent medical registration.
The internship training is designed to develop essential clinical skills, professional attitudes, and ethical practices. Interns are trained to manage common health problems as well as complex cases by working in hospital and rural healthcare settings.
